Free 2019 Summer Meal Opportunities

A number of summer meal programs are available in Wayne and Pike County. Be sure to call the numbers provided in case times or details change!

Honesdale: Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Children Under 18

Breakfast and lunch will be served daily in Honesdale. The Wayne Highlands School District encourages those eligible to attend this free program.

The following schedule details the times and locations of the program.

June 17 – Aug. 6: Breakfast will be served from 7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Lakeside Elementary School Cafeteria, 129 Lakeside Drive, Honesdale. The phone number for the school is 570-253-6820.

June 17-Aug. 6: Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday – Friday at The Cooperage Project, 459 Main Street in Honesdale. The contact number is 570-253-2020.

June 24 – July 17: Breakfast will be served from 7:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. and lunch from 11:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. Monday- Friday at Honesdale High School, 459 Terrace Street, Honesdale. The contact number is 570-253-2046.

July 9 – Aug. 1: Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 12:20 p.m. – 1 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday at Stourbridge Primary Center, 123 ABC Drive, Honesdale. The contact number is 570-253-3010.

Free Daily Summer Lunch in Hawley Park

“Free Kids Picnic” Lunch will be served daily at the bandstand (the big gazebo) in Bingham Park. In the event of bad weather, lunch will be served across the street at the Hawley Borough Hall.

Hot & cold lunches will be provided from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from June 24 trough August 9. The only exception is July 4 and July 5, when there will not be any lunches served.

This program is open to any child under the age of 18. The lunches must be eaten at the site and can not be taken away.

Free Lunch For All in Shohola on Thursdays

Laura McBride, organizer of the the food pantry at St. Ann’s Church in Shohola has announced that “Lorenzo’s Lunch” will be starting on June 27, 2019 and will occur every Thursday through the third week of August. Time is from 12 – 2pm.

Along with some great people from St. Ann’s Church, Laura invites local veterans, seniors, families and kids and anyone that needs a hot home cooked meal.

Fresh home cooked meals will be provided with a different menu each week. The first Lorenzo’s Lunch (Thursday June 27) kicks off the summer with “Lorenzo’s BBQ” featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, macaroni salad, potato salad, cole slaw, green salad and dessert. Beverages include lemonade, iced tea, water, coffee and tea.

All are welcome.
